Chemtrade is currently operating under permit GVA0010, which expires January 31, 2026.</p><p>Chemtrade is requesting a new permit with a term until January 31, 2046 and an increase to authorized emissions from their primary boiler, to support enhanced operational flexibility in its fuel strategy, which incorporates the use of both natural gas and hydrogen. This emission increase is not associated with any changes in throughput, products, or modifications to existing operational processes.</p><p>Chemtrade operates a chlor-alkali manufacturing plant that produces chlorine, hydrogen and caustic from salt water in an electrolytic reaction. Hydrogen is used in the production of hydrochloric acid and is also used as fuel.
