On February 14, 2025, the BC Government announced that effective June 1, 2025, BC's minimum wage will increase from $17.40 to $17.85 an hour. This is a 2.6% ($0.45) increase, which is consistent with BC's average rate of inflation in 2024.
On June 12, the BC Government announced that the International Credentials Recognition Act (Act) will come into effect on July 1, 2024, with regulations under the Act to follow on January 1, 2025. The purpose of the Act is to streamline the process for internationally trained professionals in 29 occupations to get their credentials recognized with 18 regulatory bodies.
On June 5, 2024, the BC Government announced the introduction of a Pay Transparency Reporting Tool (Tool). This Tool enables employers to easily create a pay transparency report as required under the Pay Transparency Act (Act) and the Pay Transparency Regulation (Regulation).
