The Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD), Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation (MVHC), Greater Vancouver Water District (GVWD), and Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District (GVS&DD) are each governed by a separate Board of Directors. Each Board is responsible for adopting its own policies. Polices fall under one of eight sub-categories: Finance (FN), Governance (GV), Housing (HO), Human Resources (HR), Health and Safety (HS), Information Technology (IT), Parks (PK), and Utilities (UT). A policy is a plan of action, set of statements of principle, values, or intent that outlines expectations and guides the decision-making process. Policies define the goals of an organization, provide guidance on how to achieve objectives, and establish consistent standards.
