On Friday, February 28, the Metro Vancouver Board met to continue discussions related to programs and initiatives delivered by the regional district. This was part of the Metro Vancouver Services and Cost Efficiencies Review and continued from a discussion that took place on Friday, February 21.
At the meeting, the Board made the decision to continue two programs and initiatives delivered through the area of “Other Regional District Services" and seek opportunities to reduce costs through the remainder of the budgeting process:
- Housing Development Fund
- Zero Waste Collaboration Initiatives
Next, the Board will review department-by-department potential operational cost savings, including for the Metro Vancouver Water District, Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District, the Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation, and the Metro Vancouver Regional District.
The Services and Cost Efficiencies Review is being undertaken by the Metro Vancouver Board to review processes, programs, and services and ensure the organization continues to provide essential services in a transparent and fiscally responsible way, while protecting the region's quality of life for future generations.
