Fleetwood Reservoir and First Nations mural now complete
On Friday, April 10, Metro Vancouver gathered with Indigenous artist Elinor Atkins and q́ʷɑ:ńƛ̓əń (Kwantlen First Nation) to celebrate the completion of the Fleetwood Reservoir, an essential piece of drinking water infrastructure supporting growing communities south of the Fraser River.
The celebration also highlighted the glass mural designed by Indigenous artist Elinor Atkins. Integrated into the reservoir at Meagan Anne MacDougall Park, the artwork reflects the cultural and spiritual significance of water and reinforces Metro Vancouver’s commitment to meaningful collaboration with Indigenous peoples.
