Centre Shaft SiteCentre Shaft Site<div class="ExternalClassF8AAA029BA3A42ADA664CADC4E0FD265"><p>The new Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel will replace an existing water main that was built in the 1930s and is at the end of its service life. The new water supply tunnel is being built to withstand a major earthquake. Once complete, it will help the cities of Vancouver and Richmond meet the growing demand for water and ensure continued access to safe and clean drinking water for years to come.</p><p>This major infrastructure project will include the installation of new valve chambers and pipes that will connect the new water main to the region’s existing water distribution system. The project will include the installation of three tunnel shafts, including the centre shaft located in the Stanley Park Service Yard area. </p><p>The centre shaft site will be the main construction area for the project and will include the construction of a shaft that will be used to excavate the tunnel and remove excavated material.
