Invest Vancouver Receives Grant to Attract Foreign Direct InvestmentInvest Vancouver Receives Grant to Attract Foreign Direct Investment<div class="ExternalClassB61E0FB839E54A4BB7396A564E07838A"><p>Invest Vancouver, Metro Vancouver's regional economic development service, has been awarded a $370,560 grant from the <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=fd6f5503-b964-40c0-b0db-6b96bba543cc&eg=33a6a727-5482-4af1-b3c9-101694cc1821&lg=1104acfa-a4c2-4a3e-a203-6292ca1a6744&ltp=c">CanExport Community Investments Program</a> to support its efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the region.</p><p>“These additional funds help us deliver projects that increase our capacity to attract, retain, and expand foreign direct investment in the regional economy," said Mike Hurley, Chair of the Metro Vancouver Boards. “This has had a positive impact on employment and GDP in British Columbia and plays an important role in creating high-quality jobs and supporting a prosperous region for all residents."</p><p>Multinational enterprises have been a key driver of employment growth, often introducing global best practices and stimulating local economic activity. In 2022, these foreign enterprises employed nearly 350,000 people in British Columbia and connected our economy to diverse markets through international trade.</p><p>“This funding strengthens our ability to compete globally for the businesses, talent, and investment that will shape the economy of the future. It allows us to strengthen our international presence, build relationships with global companies, and attract investment that creates long-term economic prosperity while reinforcing our position as a leading destination for business," said Linda Buchanan, Chair of the Invest Vancouver Management Board.</p><p>“It is with the support of the CanExport Community Investments Program that Canadian economic development organizations like Invest Vancouver can create and implement innovative and impactful foreign investment attraction initiatives. These initiatives not only attract new investments but also create good-paying jobs for Canadians and grow our economy," said the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade.</p><p>CanExport Community Investments is managed by Global Affairs Canada and offers grants of up to $500,000 for community-level, non-profit organizations.
