| Metro Vancouver Launches New Dashboard Highlighting Regional Housing Data | Metro Vancouver Launches New Dashboard Highlighting Regional Housing Data | | <div class="ExternalClassD39191B4624043D0A080A3E81B712B96"><p>Metro Vancouver has launched the <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=1d52a5b4-6ce1-4999-929c-8c420ec37104&eg=bbbc4dc3-b19b-4234-aa8f-b666c591d59d&lg=f9857228-876c-436a-9814-eb8aaec51b8f<p=c">Housing Data Dashboard</a>, an interactive tool that provides a comprehensive overview of the region's housing market and the people it impacts.</p><p>“As our region continues to grow, access to reliable housing data is more important than ever," said Metro Vancouver Board Chair Mike Hurley. “The Housing Data Dashboard brings critical information together in one place, making it easier for planners, decision-makers, and the public to understand trends, identify challenges, and take informed action to improve housing outcomes across the region."</p><p>Highlights from the latest housing data include:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>New housing supply continues to trend towards higher density, with apartments making up most housing starts and completions across the region.</li><li>While housing starts have declined in recent years, housing completions reached a record high in 2025 as projects that launched earlier in the development cycle were completed.</li><li>With rental vacancy rates reaching 3.7 per cent in 2025, the highest level in the past decade, pressure on rents eased across the region, contributing to a slower pace of rent growth compared to recent years.</li></ul><p>The Housing Data Dashboard replaces Metro Vancouver's long-running Housing Data Book with a dynamic, user-friendly tool that makes housing information more accessible. By presenting the latest available data — including newly released 2025 figures — in an interactive format, the dashboard allows users to track trends over time, compare indicators across the region, and quickly access insights on supply, affordability, and housing types.</p><p>Since 2009, Metro Vancouver has published the Housing Data Book, which is updated annually as new data becomes available. This enhanced accessibility supports more informed decision-making by local governments, researchers, industry, and community partners, and helps advance key priorities in <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=1d52a5b4-6ce1-4999-929c-8c420ec37104&eg=bbbc4dc3-b19b-4234-aa8f-b666c591d59d&lg=c6f96427-87b9-4e35-b6ba-73f2a08c1c8b<p=c"><em>Metro 2050</em></a>, including improving housing affordability, increasing supply, and aligning growth with regional planning objectives.</p><p>Metro Vancouver conducts policy research to help the region prepare for population, housing, and job growth. The Housing Data Dashboard is part of this approach, offering region-wide data on housing to help planners and policymakers address housing affordability.</p><p>Metro Vancouver has coordinated regional planning since 1967, working with member jurisdictions and partners to guide land use, transportation, and infrastructure as the region grows. <em>Metro 2050,</em> the regional growth strategy, is a collaborative vision for managing population, housing, and employment growth while protecting ecologically sensitive areas, agricultural lands, and industrial spaces.
