Water has flooded nearby buildings and there are evacuations of those buildings. Columbia Street and some local streets are closed while we respond.

This is a large transmission main that takes time to isolate. At this time, Metro Vancouver has isolated the system. This leak may result in drinking water turbidity (cloudiness) and pressure issues. We are monitoring closely and will update the public should the water quality become a concern. Consumers do not need to take any actions at this time.

We are monitoring closely and will update the public should the water quality become a concern.

Once the residual water has drained from the system, we will determine the next steps to fix the break. We have been working closely through the night with New Westminster staff. New Westminster Fire and Police are on scene and managing the site with evacuations currently underway for nearby residents.
