this June. Clean Transportation Month celebrates organizations and individuals
at the forefront of clean transportation solutions that mitigate the effects of
climate change in BC.<br></p><p>Transportation is the single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the Metro Vancouver region, accounting for more than 40 per cent of all emissions. Strategies at the regional, provincial, and national level, including <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=d6fb3c12-1e74-4cc1-9242-18606b29ce5d&eg=3c75fb3a-1af4-4a15-8285-b03139613182&lg=bb979889-180a-479a-bd58-c181a30414d5<p=c">CleanBC</a>, <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=d6fb3c12-1e74-4cc1-9242-18606b29ce5d&eg=3c75fb3a-1af4-4a15-8285-b03139613182&lg=54fbb9f0-98e9-4869-b114-5494e6f199bd<p=c">Climate 2050</a>, <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=d6fb3c12-1e74-4cc1-9242-18606b29ce5d&eg=3c75fb3a-1af4-4a15-8285-b03139613182&lg=5298105b-6e9e-420b-970c-15d928f8c9db<p=c">2030 Emissions Reduction Plan</a>, and <a href="https://subscription.metrovancouver.org/sites/Media/default.aspx?jg=d6fb3c12-1e74-4cc1-9242-18606b29ce5d&eg=3c75fb3a-1af4-4a15-8285-b03139613182&lg=79d9c2e4-701b-4a2c-bea6-895cac24f6f6<p=c">Transport 2050</a>, are working together to encourage innovation, generate clean jobs, reach net zero, and achieve a stronger and resilient green economy.<br></p><p>The green economy is a thriving industry that represents billions in investment in BC. More than 60 cleantech firms are headquartered within Metro Vancouver, employing over 2,800 people and creating innovative solutions for a more sustainable region and economy.<br></p><p>“Metro Vancouver is home to a thriving ecosystem where industry, government, and not-for-profit players all support the clean transportation movement. Leaders around the world look to our region for inspiration, and the continued collaboration between public and private sectors will help us take the industry to the next level," said George V. Harvie, Chair of Metro Vancouver's Board of Directors.<br></p><p>“A strong culture of innovation is present across Metro Vancouver. Our residents have a vested interest in protecting the environment and promoting the adoption of solutions needed to advance a cleaner, more efficient movement of people and goods," said Linda Buchanan, Chair of Invest Vancouver's Management Board.<br></p><p>Clean transportation events throughout June include demonstrations, go by bike weeks, investor networking sessions, and expert panels.<br></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li><p>June 1 -
