How industrial lands support Metro Vancouver
Land designed for industrial use is crucial for supporting our economy, creating local jobs, and ensuring there is enough space to accommodate the many industrial activities and services needed in a growing region. Although industrial land represents just four per cent of our region’s land base, it accommodates over 25 per cent of our region’s jobs.

Metro Vancouver plays an important role in protecting our region’s supply of industrial land and promoting its efficient use. Metro 2050, the Regional Growth Strategy, outlines key strategies to protect and enhance the supply of industrial lands and support employment opportunities close to where people live.
Metro Vancouver also provides research, data, and policy advice to advance practical and innovative forms of industrial planning and development throughout the region.
