Along the way, see a drowned forest and watch for wildlife. <br></li><li>Sasamat Lake Loop Trail is a rolling 3.2 km route along the forested shoreline of Sasamat Lake, and across it via a floating walkway. <br></li></ul><p>​To see all the trails in t​he park, <a href="/services/regional-parks/Documents/belcarra-regional-park-map.pdf" target="_blank"> view the park map</a>.<br></p></div><div class="ExternalClass673AEBB4322C447394BA7A78F633FB1C"><div>Bike racks are located at the picnic area near the washroom building; and at White Pine Beach on south beach near the life ring. ​Cycling is permitted on Springboard Trail. Sugar Mountain, Saddle Ridge and Bear Claw trails are open to cyclists, but are rugged with steep sections. Cyclists yield to pedestrians.<br></div></div><div class="ExternalClassAEEEE8929CBF44C298E52FF7BEBE05BA"> <p>Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed at W​​​hite Pine Beach; on the swimming decks of the floating walkway; and at most pocket beaches along Sasamat Lake. Beach By-Pass signs near White Pine Beach clearly mark a route for dog walkers. Please scoop your dog's poop and dispose of it properly. <br></p> <div class="ExternalClassF901E96E6124485A9C5FA6B76C930467"><a href="/services/regional-parks/dogs-in-regional-parks">More on dogs ​​in Metro Vancouver regional parks ...</a></div></div><div class="ExternalClass7ADA33EE7AA742C08C1BEC1448B6074A"> <p><a href="/services/regional-parks/facility/belcarra-picnic-area-shelters">2 Picn​ic Shelters</a></p><p>When shelte​rs are <strong>not </strong>booked, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.</p><p>The use of stake​s, including poles and posts for volleyball and badminton nets, is not permitted in the Picnic Area.</p></div><div class="ExternalClass3406A281CC1847B2A2C107850707B94D"><div><p>​With the Evergreen Extension, the park is now more easily accessible by public transit. From the Moody Centre Station, the #182 runs year round to the Be​​lcarra Picnic Area; and the #150 runs seasonally to White Pine Beach. Spring schedule with increased service on both routes starts April 17. <a href="https://www.translink.ca/" target="_blank">More information on public transit​</a>.<br></p></div></div><div class="ExternalClassD7B8546A28024C03AEC64665A90AB1E9"><div><div><p> <a href="/services/regional-parks/təmtəmíxʷtən-belcarra-regional-park-seasonal-pay-parking">Seasonal pay parking</a> in effect April 1 to September 30<br></p><p>Parking is prohibited along Bedwell Bay Road near Sasamat Lake. Parking restrictions are in place throughout the villages of Belcarra and Anmore. Parking regulations on public roads outside the park are enforced by the municipalities. If you park where parking is not allowed, you could be ticketed or towed. <br></p></div></div></div><div class="ExternalClass116AC2A96F6546649C757573545C9534"> <p>Both fishing and crab fishing are permitted in the ocean with a valid tidal licence. To protect br​​​eeding stocks, only male crabs can be harvested. For information about tidal fishing licences, special restrictions and closures, contact the <a href="http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish/Licensing/info_e.htm" target="_blank">Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans</a>.</p> <p>Fishing is permitte​d in Sasamat Lake but a non-tidal angling licence is required from the <a title="Please visit the website for more information about BC Recreational Freshwater Fishing Licences" href="https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/sports-culture/recreation/fishing-hunting/fishing/recreational-freshwater-fishing-licence" target="_blank">BC Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture</a>.</p> <div class="ExternalClass53CCB92F82C34BAD89845D538B9B0E4B"><font color="#4e72ab"></font> </div></div><div class="ExternalClassE891293CF6214AA0B250A1253E5DC674"><p>​Canoeing and kayaking are permitted on Sasamat Lake; and paddleboats can access Belcarra Bay from the Picnic Area. Launching at both locations requires carrying your boat up to 200m from the parking lots to the water. Know your limits as a paddler – be aware of tides, currents and weather. Check Transport Canada’s safe boating guide for mandatory gear.​<br></p></div><div class="ExternalClass6E4E3BEF73AD49EF903BE10B3638E961"><p> <strong>Sasamat Outdoor ​​Centre</strong>, a day and residential camp, is located in təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park and can be reserved by contacting the <a href="https://www.sasamat.org/" target="_blank">Association of Neighbourhood Houses</a> at 604-939-2268.</p><p>​ <a href="/services/regional-parks/Documents/beach-etiquette.pdf" target="_blank">Resource - Be​​ach Etiquette Sheet</a><br></p></div><div class="ExternalClass9047BAA3DAF24F2FAF5C4F0A004EFB29"><div><p>The concessions at both White Pine Beach (Sasamat Lake) and the Picnic Area (near the ocean) are closed for the season.<br></p></div></div><div class="ExternalClassCEA0389C00EB45CEA28226D347A6A9C2"><p><strong></strong></p><p>This park provides habitat to many ​wild animals including bears and cougars.<br></p><p><strong>​Bears</strong></p><p>Be bear aware at all times.</p><p></p><ul><li>Never feed a bear; do not leave any garbage or unattended food.<br></li><li>Clean up garbage and food immediately; use bear-proof bins provided.<br></li><li>Never approach a bear<br></li><li>Keep dogs leashed​<br></li></ul><p></p><p>If you encounter a bear:​<br></p><p></p><div><ul><li>​Do not run - face the bear and back away slowly​​</li><li>Stay calm - talk to the bear in a confident voice</li><li>Make sure the bear has a clear exit​<br></li></ul></div><div>For more information about bears and bear safety, check out the <a href="/services/regional-parks/Documents/bears-in-metro-vancouver.pdf" target="_blank">Help Keep Bears Wild and People Safe</a> brochure or go to the <a href="https://wildsafebc.com/black-bear/" target="_blank">WildSafeBC</a> website. ​​<br></div></div><div class="ExternalClassAA4D30B471F64B9AA731FD5E0DB94216"> <p>At the Belcarra Picnic Area, the sheltered picnic tables are wheelchair accessible. White Pine Beach has a wheelchair accessible path, picnic tables and beach access (although no direct wheelchair access to the wat​​er). All park washroom buildings are wheelchair accessible. There is ramp access to the dock at Belcarra Picnic Area, however at moderate to low tides, the slope may be too steep for disabled access.</p> <p>Trail Accessibility:</p> <p>​Springboard Trail is 4 km long and is primarily a bicycle path, but the chip sea​l hardened surface is partially wheelchair accessible. There are some steep, switchback sections west of Woodhaven Swamp that would be very challenging for a wheelchair user.  <br></p> <p>Sasamat Lake Loop has 11 bridges, many with at least one step. There are​ also 11 sets of steps around the lake, with as little as three steps and as many as 32 steps.  There are 147 steps in total.  Only one of these sets of steps has a handrail.<br></p></div><div class="ExternalClassD92883AD8EA84F6FBAF2FD47CE230385"><p>​Fires are permitte​​d onl​y in the designated fire ring at <a href="/services/regional-parks/facility/belcarra-picnic-area-shelters">Belc​​arra Picnic Area Shelters</a>. First come, first served if not booked.
