Metro Vancouver is working with the City of Burnaby to develop a 20-year management plan for Burnaby Lake Regional Park and your input matters.

This plan will guide how we care for and improve the park for decades to come, and focus on:

  • Protecting natural ecosystems
  • Supporting safe and sustainable park access
  • Improving aging infrastructure
  • Balancing the needs of all park users

Draft management plan

Following Phase 1 engagement (fall 2025), Metro Vancouver considered feedback received and developed a draft management plan.

The draft plan aims to balance protecting and enhancing the park's ecological values and cultural heritage with opportunities for people to connect with nature. Proposed improvements to trails, entrances, and visitor amenities will enhance access and accessibility, support education and stewardship, and help distribute visitor use more evenly throughout the park.

Engagement

Phase 1 engagement - Complete

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared feedback.
