North Road SewerNorth Road Sewer<div class="ExternalClassF9DCBB8559A7450D9E1B004B6224E23E"><p>​The North Road Sewer pipe collects sewage from the Cities of Burnaby and Coquitlam, and carries it to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in the City of Delta. To ensure wastewater continues to be managed safely and to accommodate regional growth, upgrades to the North Road Sewer pipe are necessary.</p><p>The new pipe is being constructed in multiple phases over the next several years. Crews completed construction of the first phase of the project on North Road between the Brunette River and just north of Lougheed Highway in 2020. </p><p>Construction for the second phase of the project, which extends along North Road from Lougheed Highway to Clarke Road, is expected to begin in 2023 and last up to 18 months. ​​<br></p></div>North Road, cities of Burnaby and Coquitlam

Sewer Construction StartingSewer Construction Starting<div class="ExternalClassEAFC7AD20CE64D28BF126A37A1CFF8AB"><p>Metro Vancouver will soon begin constructing the second phase of the North Road Upgrade Project, extending along North Road from Lougheed Highway to Clarke Road. Impacts and MitigationImpacts and Mitigation<div class="ExternalClass234D1ABC52B14F139DD8FE6121D982F2"><p>Activies associated with this project will include:</p><ul><li>Traffic lane closures, delays and impacts</li><li>Temporary driveway and property access restrictions</li><li>Parking and sidewalk restrictions</li><li>Construction vehicles and increased traffic in the area</li><li>Construction noise</li><li>Possible overnight noise from the use of heavy equipment and temporary bypass system which will be required to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week<br></li></ul>​ <p>Traffic, cyclist, and pedestrian access will be affected; residents and businesses will be notified in advance about specific traffic impacts as the project progresses. There will be temporary lane closures, detours, as well as parking and driveway restrictions. Please follow the direction of signage and traffic control personnel.​<br></p>​ </div>
Work HoursWork Hours<div class="ExternalClass857F2E19A03945A09C1F093F19CD0C9B"><p>Work will generally occur from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm, and on Saturdays between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. To avoid significant impacts to traffic in the area, night work will also be in effect. </p><p>Crews will make efforts to complete the work in a timely manner and reduce impacts to residents and businesses wherever possible. There will be times when crews are required to work extended hours and operate equipment and machinery to complete specific tasks and stay on schedule.</p><p>​All work activites will comply with municipal bylaws or granted bylaw variances.</p></div>
EngagementEngagement<div class="ExternalClass1D730F7C50734173A755A9263F65A49A"><p>​Metro Vancouver is committed to minimzing the impacts of construction on the community. Local residents and businesses will receive ongoing notifications about the project as construction progresses through newsletters, web updates, email, and on-site signage. <br></p><p>A Community Liaison has been assigned to meet with business owners, residents, and community members to discuss the project impacts, compile project feedback and be available by phone or email to address any questions or concerns. ​​<br></p></div>
