Riverside DriveRiverside Drive<div class="ExternalClass08309D747B6C4FA28EA14D5CC62A33C9"><p>Metro Vancouver Housing is developing new non-market rental homes in the District of North Vancouver’s Maplewood neighbourhood. The six-storey building will have approximately 81 new rental apartments for low to moderate income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.​</p><h2>Partners in affordable housing</h2><p>The Riverside Drive site is owned by the District of North Vancouver. It is in the Maplewood neighbourhood, which is designated as a Town Centre in the District’s Official Community Plan. The Maplewood Plan envisions the Maplewood Village Centre as a central commercial hub with a diversity of housing, including affordable rental housing.</p><ul class="fa-ul"><li> <span class="fa-li"> <i class="fa-light fa-link"></i></span><a href="https://www.dnv.org/community-environment/maplewood-village-centre-and-area" target="_blank" title="Maplewood Village Centre and Area (District of North Vancouver)">Maplewood Village Centre and Area (District of North Vancouver)</a></li><li> <span class="fa-li"> <i class="fa-light fa-link"></i></span><a href="https://www.dnv.org/business-development/riverside-drive-social-housing-site" target="_blank" title="Riverside Drive Social Housing Site (District of North Vancouver)">Riverside Drive Social Housing Site (District of North Vancouver)</a></li><li> <span class="fa-li"> <i class="fa-light fa-link"></i></span><a href="https://www.dnv.org/bylaws/official-community-plan" target="_blank" title="Official Community Plan (District of North Vancouver)">Official Community Plan (District of North Vancouver)</a><br></li></ul></div><div class="ExternalClass31B9831899A8444681E4A219F80BF71E"><ul><li> <strong>Sustainability:</strong> The building will be designed to meet <a href="https://energystepcode.ca/" target="_blank" title="BC Energy Code - Step 3">BC Energy Code - Step 3</a>, balancing affordability with energy-efficient design to support ​climate action.</li><li> <strong>Accessibility:</strong> All homes will be either accessible or meet universal design standards. This will support people with disabilities and support seniors to age in place.</li><li> <strong>Affordability:</strong> All homes will provide some level of affordability and the building will be mixed income for low to moderate income working households.</li><li> <strong>Amenities:</strong> Indoor and outdoor tenant amenities will provide flexible, multi-use spaces for people of all ages and include features such as an indoor amenity room, outdoor plaza and seating, attractive landscaping, and secure bike storage.</li><li> <strong>Unit features:</strong>​ All units will include in-suite laundry, in-suite storage, and kitchen appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher).</li><li> <strong>Innovative construction model:</strong>​ The building uses the <a href="https://www.acceleratedhousing.ca/" target="_blank" title="Digitally Accelerated Standardized Housing">DASH</a> (Digitally Accelerated Standardized Housing) construction model, which combines standardized design, advanced digital tools, and prefabricated components to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.<br></li></ul></div>https://metrovancouver.org/services/housing/PublishingImages/riverside-drive-04.jpg, Riverside Drive Rendering https://metrovancouver.org/services/housing/PublishingImages/riverside-drive-04.jpg<div class="ExternalClassCEEF3EC078324260BDD92F495A3569E5"><p>Community members and neighbours were engaged through the District’s rezoning process. Further engagement opportunities have been provided as part of the District’s Development Permit approval​ process. <br></p></div>Design<div class="ExternalClass562CFDE97D2241A18BF896FE2B590CCD"><p>Metro Vancouver Housing is not currently accepting waitlist applications for this building. Once the building is complete, Low-End-of-Market (affordable) units for moderate income households will be advertised publicly at <a href="/services/housing" target="_blank">metrovancouver.org/services/housing</a>.
