Centre Shaft SiteCentre Shaft Site<div class="ExternalClassF8AAA029BA3A42ADA664CADC4E0FD265"><p>The new Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel will replace an existing water main that was built in the 1930s and is at the end of its service life. The new water supply tunnel is being built to withstand a major earthquake. <span data-teams="true">Once complete, it will help ensure continued access to high-quality drinking water for the cities of Vancouver, Richmond, and Delta for years to come</span>​.<br></p><p>This major infrastructure project includes the installation of new valve chambers and pipes that will connect the new water main to the region’s existing water distribution system. The project will include the installation of three tunnel shafts, including the Centre shaft located in the Stanley Park Service Yard area. <br></p><p>The Centre shaft site will be the main construction area for the project and will include the construction of a shaft that will be used to dig the tunnel and remove excavated material.
