These upgrades are critical to extend the reservoir’s service life, improve surface drainage, and remove invasive vegetation near the facility.</p><p>This project is expected to take place from fall 2025 to summer 2026.​<br></p></div>District of North VancouverProject

Impacted areas have been restored and temporary fencing has been removed. Project activitiesProject activities<div class="ExternalClass027B653757BC482ABCE55D4F0279F63D"><p>​​Activities will include:</p><ul><li>​Install temporary construction fencing, storage area, and office trailers</li><li>Drain and temporarily remove the reservoir from service<br></li><li>Remove 27 trees to accommodate project activities​<br></li><li>Complete rehabilitation work inside the reservoir to extend its service life</li><li>Reconnect the reservoir to the drinking water system</li><li>Excavate the ground near the facility to remove invasive plants </li><li>Install pipes to capture rainwater overflow, which will improve surface drainage</li><li>Restore impacted areas to previous condition and reopen the park</li></ul></div>
Impacts and mitigation Impacts and mitigation <div class="ExternalClass1DDEE6294329485C8933F53E7727A4E9"><p>Metro Vancouver is committed to minimizing impacts whenever possible. The surrounding community and park visitors may experience the following impacts:</p><ul><li>Partial closure of Sarita Park during the project </li><li>Moderate noise from excavation</li><li>Increased traffic along Sarita Avenue from construction vehicles</li></ul><p>There will be no impacts to water supply during this project.</p><p>To minimize impacts, we will:</p><ul><li><strong>Noise</strong>: Cover noisy equipment and use low-noise equipment and tools</li><li><strong>Traffic</strong>: Use traffic control personnel to redirect traffic around the work zone, when required</li><li><strong>Environment</strong>: Hire an environmental professional to monitor construction activities, including water discharge<br></li><li><strong>Trees:</strong> Install fencing to protect healthy trees that will not be removed and hire an arborist to supervise tree removal<br></li><li>​<strong>Dust</strong>: Remove dust and debris from the site and surrounding areas </li></ul></div>
Work hoursWork hours<div class="ExternalClass2718BB19A3444F728279BB1775BCB1F1"><p>Project activities may take place on:</p><ul><li><strong>Weekdays</strong>: Between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm</li><li>​<strong>Saturdays</strong>: Between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm</li></ul><p>There may be tim​es when construction crews will need to work longer hours to complete critical activities safely and efficiently. Work will comply with the District of North Vancouver bylaws or granted bylaw variances.</p></div>
