Kennedy Newton Water Main - Section 2Kennedy Newton Water Main - Section 2<div class="ExternalClass25A54B3AFA3D4592A1A41DCD58F209B1"><p>Metro Vancouver is constructing the Kennedy Newton Water Main in the City of Surrey. Construction of this new water main started in fall 2019 and is being phased over several years due to the length of the water main, which is approximately eight kilometres long.</p><p>Section two spans from 72 Avenue to Newton Reservoir at 63 Avenue and construction will take place from summer 2020 to fall 2023.<br></p></div>72 Avenue to Newton Reservoir at 63 Avenue

Project activitiesProject activities<div class="ExternalClassC05EEF5FDD2F44589A58FAB316D0A57D"><p>Construction activities will include excavating a trench, installing a 1.8 metre diameter pipe, installing new underground valve chambers and performing testing and cleaning before the water main is connected to the existing water distribution system.</p><p>After construction, all work areas will be restored to similar or better condition.</p>​​<br></div>
Impacts and mitigationImpacts and mitigation<div class="ExternalClassFA34B85857A04CE4906419D8886F320B"><p>There will be times when some local residents and businesses may not be able to directly access their property by vehicle when construction activities block driveways. The project’s community liaison will work with residents and businesses in advance of construction to determine alternate options for access and parking. Whenever possible, local residents will be provided vehicle access to their property as long as it is deemed safe by the contractor. Emergency services will have access to properties at all times.</p>​​<br></div>
Work hoursWork hours<div class="ExternalClass43EBE584D93443DC8774AD6CCEEA9ABF"><p>All work will comply with City of Surrey bylaws or granted bylaw variances. Typical hours of work for this project are:</p><ul><li>Monday to Saturday: 7:00 am –6:00 pm</li> </ul><p>There may be times when construction crew will need to work longer hours or on weekends to complete certain tasks, but Metro Vancouver will provide notification about these activities ahead of time.<br></p></div>
