Annacis Water Main SouthAnnacis Water Main South<div class="ExternalClassF4B004AFAB3D42369216A5E1A3E2377B"><p>To meet the growing demand for drinking water in the region, Metro Vancouver will be constructing the Annacis Water Main South in the City of Surrey and the City of Delta. This new water main is approximately three kilometres lo​​ng and will be constructed in two phases.</p><p>The first phase involves installing ​​a 300 metre long water main along 96 Avenue between 119B Street and 117B Street in the City of Delta and the City of Surrey. Phase 2 includes water main installation for the rest of the project alignment and construction of four valve chambers (please see project alignment under Maps & Schedules).</p><p>When complete, this new water main will conne​​ct to the new Kennedy Newton Water Main to the south and the Annacis Water Supply Tunnel located to the north. All of these are Metro Vancouver infrastructure projects which will support the supply of drinking water to c​​ommunities south of the Fraser River.​</p></div>City of Surrey and City of Delta

 

 

Phase one completePhase one complete<div class="ExternalClass922B44A4A550480FA4A84D1A83407804"><p>Construction of phase one​​ of this project began in summer 2021 and has now been completed. </p><p>Crews hav​​e completed water main installation along 96 Avenue between 119B Street and 117B Street in the Cities of Delta and Surrey.  The work area has been restored including the construction of a new creek bridge, restoration of asphalt, and curbing. Project activitiesProject activities<div class="ExternalClass99A66E90832D4A7DAA826212DF453C82"><p>Construction activities will include excavating a trench, tunneling using a tunnel boring machine (under the Southern Railway of Br​​itish Columbia and Delta Creek), installing the pipe and restoring the area to similar or better condition for all sections of the project.</p><p>The tunneling section of this water main is necessary to avoid disruptions to the Southern Railway of British Columbia and Del​​ta Creek. There will be an entry and exit shaft for the tunnel section of this project located on the east and west sides of the Southern Railway of British Columbia.</p><p>Required equipment <span id="ms-rterangecursor-start"></span><span id="ms-rterangecursor-end"></span>for this work w​ill include asphalt saws, excavators, large trucks, dewatering pumps, a tunnel boring machine and compactors.​<br></p></div>
Traffic and accessTraffic and access<div class="ExternalClassFF8D7CAB5DF747399DE1D6BDB72BF0B0"><p>Metro Vancouver recognizes that construction of this project may have impacts on the residents and traffic flows in the community and we are taking steps to minimize them. In order to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently d​uring construction, Metro Vancouver will:</p><ul><li>Advertise detour routes in advance</li><li>Use flaggers to inform drivers, cyclists and pedestrians of detour routes and alternate access points</li><li>Support access for parents and school buses during drop-off and pick-up times</li></ul><p>If you or anyone in your household has mobility issues or medical requirements, please contact our Community Liai​​​son at 604-432-6200 (Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm).​<span id="ms-rterangecursor-start"></span><span id="ms-rterangecursor-end"></span><br></p></div>
Work hoursWork hours<div class="ExternalClassDB65A67EE1F547ABB2922309FA65D587"><p>Typical hours of work are Monday to Saturday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. There may be times when crews will need​​ to work longer hours or on weekends to complete certain tasks. All work will comply with City of Surrey and City of Delta bylaws and granted bylaw variances.<br></p></div>
