Recycling Depot Construction – Langley Recycling and Waste Centre

Project o​​verview

The Langley Recycling and Waste Centre is being upgraded to accept more materials and make recycling easier and more convenient. The facility is being modernized through construction of a new free public recycling depot, a covered scale plaza with two weigh scales, and a separate service scale.​

The project will increase free recycling, improve customer flow and convenience, enhance safety, and support broader regional waste diversion goals.

Recycling depots play an integral role in reducing waste in the region by helping keep recyclable and reusable materials out of the garbage. The Langley Recycling and Waste Centre will remain fully operational during this project.

Construction impacts and mitigationConstruction impacts and mitigation<div class="ExternalClassED6EAC7BFD5D43129872DBE8F767559B"><p>Metro Vancouver is committed to minimizing construction impacts. Although the Langley Recycling and Waste Centre will remain open during construction, Metro Vancouver recognizes construction may impact customers and the local community. Activities and impacts associated with this project may include:</p><ul><li>Traffic pattern changes, detours, and delays</li><li>Parking and sidewalk restrictions</li><li>Construction vehicles and increased traffic in the area</li><li>Noise from machinery</li><li>Customer delays and line-ups</li></ul><p>To keep traffic moving safely and efficiently on site during construction, Metro Vancouver will use traffic control personnel, alternate route signage, and other traffic management tools to accommodate temporary traffic flow detours and potential delays.</p><p>To ensure the safety of customers and construction crews, and to reduce project impacts in the community, we will:</p><ul><li>Advertise alternate traffic flow routes within the facility in advance</li><li>Provide clear signage and wayfinding</li><li>Use traffic control personnel to provide wayfinding guidance.</li></ul></div>
Work hoursWork hours<div class="ExternalClass1A4D70BDEEDC435C845FC09E2113B3FA"><p>Work will generally occur from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm. There may be times when crews will be required to work extended hours. All work will comply with municipal bylaws or granted bylaw variances.</p></div>
