Acknowledge the rider and horse quietly and calmly. Be aware that sudden movements, loud noises and groups of excited people can upset both horse and rider. Please ask the rider for permission before trying to touch a horse. If you are in a group, spread yourselves along the trail, so the horse can walk by a line of individuals rather than be intimidated by a group, so not to spook the horse. Keep dogs leashed, quiet and under control when horses approach.

|

The path on the dyke is used by service vehicles and farm equipment. It is a small section of a larger greenway network connecting to the Alouette River dyke and other greenway systems in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Conserving the Region's Biodiversity

This parkland protects one of the few remaining stands of very large western Sitka spruce in this area. It provides an essential corridor for wildlife where anything from bears to weasels travel along the greenway from one habitat to another. You're likely to hear a variety of birds, at least four species of frogs, and sometimes the slap of a beaver tail hitting water. Look to the sky for soaring eagles and passing herons that nest nearby.

Accessing the Greenway

The North Alouette Greenway runs just east of Park Lane north of 132 Avenue, Maple Ridge. It can be accessed from the parking lot at the 13350 block of Park Lane.

| | | | | | | | |

Most
