No Smoking in Regional Parks

Smoking is prohibited in all Metro Vancouver regional parks and greenways, except in designated smoking areas.

Having smoking-free parks helps:

  1. Protect park users from the effects of second-hand smoke;
  2. Reduce the amount of litter associated with smoking;
  3. Protect birds and other wildlife from cigarette butts (which, when eaten, can be fatal ); and
  4. Reduce the risk of wildfires.

Enforcement

No smoking falls under Regional Parks Regulation Bylaw 1177 (Section 6).

Anyone found smoking in a non-designated smoking area is subject to a fine of $500.
