Codd Wetland Ecological Conservancy Area was acquired in 2004 to protect the wetland. It contributes to the health of our waterways, air, climate, and soil systems, and provides critical habitat for a variety of birds, fish, mammals, and amphibians — some of which are no longer found in the region’s developed and heavily used landscapes. As a conservancy area, the primary goal is to protect the ecosystems and associated wildlife, and as a result, public access is not permitted.
The purchase and ongoing conservation management of the site are supported by the Province of British Columbia, Metro Vancouver, the City of Pitt Meadows, The Land Conservancy of British Columbia, and Ducks Unlimited. The Aquilini family also made a significant contribution toward the acquisition of Codd Wetland, helping to ensure its long-term protection.
