South SectionSouth Section

The South Section of the Gilbert Road Sewer Project extends from the Lulu Island Wastewater Treatment Plant to Steveston Highway. Construction is expected to begin in early 2023 and continue for approximately two years.

This two-kilometre-long section will use open-cut construction methods, which involves digging a trench to install pipe. Work will progress along Gilbert Road in segments. Crews will start at the Lulu Island Wastewater Treatment Plant and move northward towards Steveston Highway. The length of each segment and the duration of its construction will vary depending on technical factors. Crews may need to stay in some locations for longer periods in order to complete specific tasks such as maintenance hole upgrades and ditch crossings.

Fact Sheet - Gilbert Road Sewer - South Section

Gilbert Road, from the Lulu Island Wastewater Treatment Plant to Steveston Highway, City of Richmond
