Minato WestMinato West<div class="ExternalClass08431025D5F8479B98CC0F15BC5732D7"><p>Metro Vancouver is reducing emissions and improving tenant comfort at Minato West, an affordable housing complex in Richmond. Minato West, built in 1977, consists of two three-level apartment buildings and 80 townhouses, with a total of 110 suites.</p><p>The wood-framed buildings will be undergoing a major building envelope replacement project which will extend the life of the buildings by 50 years, reduce energy consumption, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent. A more resilient building with new, updated exterior appearance, continuous exterior insulation, and improved windows and doors will ensure improve indoor comfort and reduce energy bills for the tenants.​​<br></p></div><div class="ExternalClass10653341FAF146769AD9811253ADFEF3"><ul><li>Replacing the original stucco or horizontal wood lap siding and associated building paper at exterior walls with new exterior air/moisture barrier, exterior continuous insulation, a rainscreen cavity and new cladding such as vinyl or fibre-cement siding.</li><li>Replacing the existing aluminum framed windows and sliding doors with new, thermally efficient vinyl framed windows and sliding doors.</li><li>Replacing light fixtures on the exterior walls of the building with new energy efficient LED fixtures.</li><li>Replacing the existing soffits, guardrails and surface membrane at the exterior walkways and balconies of the apartment buildings with new soffits, fascia mounted aluminum guardrails, and new waterproof membranes.</li></ul><h2>Partners in affordable housing</h2><p>The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) has provided funding of $1.1 million for this project through a portfolio program as part of the Co-Investment Fund.​​<br></p> </div>https://metrovancouver.org/services/housing/HousingPhotos/minato-west.jpg, Minato West https://metrovancouver.org/services/housing/HousingPhotos/minato-west.jpgDesign
