Update #1: Fire at təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional ParkUpdate #1: Fire at təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park<div class="ExternalClass3730C712FCD04B6F9A6F07D46A246F76"><p></p><p>Metro Vancouver received reports of smoke in or near təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park on the afternoon Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The fire, which is about a hectare in size, is within the park boundary, near Sugar Mountain Trail.</p><p>Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department, Port Moody Fire Rescue, Metro Vancouver Emergency Management staff, Metro Vancouver Regional Parks staff, Metro Vancouver Watershed Protection firefighting crews, and BC Wildfire Service responded. BC Wildfire Service supported with initial attack crews and aviation, including bucketing helicopters.</p><p>Metro Vancouver is in charge of incident command and as of Wednesday evening, ground crews were attacking hot spots and maintaining containment lines. Metro Vancouver fire crews will be conducting a fire watch overnight. </p><p>Metro Vancouver is grateful for the support and cooperation from all responding agencies. Thanks to a well-coordinated initial response, the fire is not expected to grow beyond containment lines overnight.</p><p>Two properties on Fern Drive in Anmore have been evacuated, and the Village of Anmore has issued an evacuation alert for 35 others along Fern Drive north of Magnolia Way, along Oak Court, and northeast along Crystal Creek Drive. The Village of Anmore is the lead agency for evacuations and Metro Vancouver is supporting.
