The coordination of land use and transportation supports positive region building by ensuring communities are connected to sustainable transportation networks while investing in transportation improvements for existing neighbourhoods. Over time, this creates a regional growth pattern where destinations are closer together and more accessible for all, with less need to drive. Metro 2050 encourages trips by multiple-occupancy vehicles, transit, cycling, and walking.
