The goal
Metro 2050 reinforces the established framework of concentrating growth into compact, walkable, complete communities, where development is transit oriented, and people can access a range of housing choices that are close to jobs, amenities, and services. To protect the environment while keeping infrastructure costs low, development should largely take place inside the Urban Containment Boundary and Rural lands should be protected from urban forms of development.
