Competitive compensation Competitive compensation <div class="ExternalClass010B65D6C7194360AC502F3D49E9ABCC"><p>​​We offer excellent benefits, including a defined benefit pension, extended health and dental plan. For positions that fall under the GVRDEU union, employees receive an additional 6.25% deferred compensation on hours worked, which can be taken as compensation or time off in accordance with the collective agreement. ​<br></p></div>
Regular daytime hours Regular daytime hours <div class="ExternalClass89EAE82678E14C5794BAA5FA1979AB07">The majority of our trades positions work regular, daytime hours with rotational on-call coverage for emergency situations. Fleet employees in the Garage may be hired into either Day Shift or Afternoon Shift ​roles, as specified in the posting. </div>
Work-life balance Work-life balance <div class="ExternalClass9803E6EE7F924D7C941AFDF6F5AE5D7C">We offer a minimum of 3 weeks vacation to regular full-time employees after 1-year, parental leave benefits, and a deferred compensation of 6.25% that may be taken as time off or as monetary compensation.​<br></div>

Our apprenticeship program is a valuable learning experience for individuals who are interested in starting their career in trades. The program provides the opportunity to train and develop skilled tradespeople on Metro Vancouver’s infrastructure, processes and practices. Participants undergo a rotation of on-the-job training at Metro Vancouver and technical education at a certified trades institution.
