Request Investigating Invertebrates
Program description
An amazing tiny world awaits your discovery. Peek under logs, inspect leaf litter, and examine flowers to discover that invertebrates are everywhere. Creatures such as insects, spiders, slugs, and millipedes have essential jobs as decomposers and pollinators — and as food for other animals.
Learn about metamorphosis and life cycles. Gently catch and view an invertebrate, then release it back into its habitat.
Sample activities (may vary depending on the location, leader, group age, or teacher request):
- Bug Hunt: Collect and release bugs whether your program is in the forest, sand dunes, pond, or stream. Witness life stages where possible.
- Spider Web Spray: Gently mist spider webs to make them more visible as you search for different types of webs.
- Insect Life Cycle Role Play: Pretend to be a butterfly as you develop from egg to adult.
Payment
Once the program is booked, we will email you an invoice with instructions to pay by:
- Credit Card (online or over the phone)
- Mail in a cheque
Payment must be made no later than two weeks after receiving your invoice.
Cancellation policy
Programs take place in all weather conditions, unless deemed unsafe by Metro Vancouver. A $25 administration fee is retained for all cancellations and date changes. No refund will be issued if you cancel less than two weeks before your program date.
