Program description

Healthy biomes and ecosystems depend on many interconnected species, such as hummingbirds and spiders or woodpeckers and flying squirrels. Discover many surprising connections in a forest, bog, or grassland. Observe, investigate, and unravel the extraordinary relationships you may never have known existed.

Sample activities (may vary depending on the location, leader, group age, or teacher request):

  • Ecosystem Tag: This fun running game shows how parts of an ecosystem interact and depend on one another.
  • Identi-plant: Work in pairs to match the labelled plants to the card in your hand in the fun running game. Experience the diversity of plant life.
  • View an animal specimen: Examine pelts, skulls, or scat to learn about how the animal uses different components in an ecosystem to survive.
  • Who Lives Here? Search for tracks and signs that introduce students to local wildlife.
