In April 2019, new legislation took effect requiring that all local governments in BC prepare Housing Needs Reports every five years describing their current and anticipated housing needs. The first report deadline was in April 2022.
Metro Vancouver’s Role
Metro Vancouver provides assistance to its member jurisdictions by collecting and issuing close to 50 distinct types of data required by the Province. This data is used by member jurisdictions to inform their analysis of local housing needs.
In an effort to enhance knowledge sharing and capacity building among local governments in the region, Metro Vancouver has compiled the most recent housing needs reports prepared by its member jurisdictions.
