Treated wastewater from the Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant is released into the Fraser River through an existing outfall pipe. A new, higher capacity outfall pipe will be required once the plant expansion is complete. The new outfall is currently in the initial stages of design, and will be advanced once the outfall location is determined.
The location of the new outfall pipe will be selected to minimize environmental impacts, and through engagement with First Nations and Fraser River users. The new outfall pipe will meet regional growth needs while ensuring greater seismic resilience and continuous, reliable, and safe management of wastewater.
