- Emergency planning in four management phases: mitigation, preparation, response, recovery
- 9-1-1 call answer services
- Incident command and response coordination at emergency sites, as needed
- Central coordination through Metro Vancouver's Emergency Operations Centre
- Liaising with federal, provincial, and local authorities, First Nations, and the University of British Columbia (UBC)
- Wildland fire suppression in coordination with the BC Wildfire Service
- Building inspections, fire inspections, and fire investigations
- Emergency support services to ensure the welfare of residents who may be displaced
- Coordinating disaster financial assistance applications
