Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Projects

Upcoming Barge Berth Open House

Metro Vancouver invites you to attend an open house for the barge berth project that will support construction of the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Projects. The barge berth will be constructed at one of three identified locations.

The open house will provide an opportunity for community members to share their feedback on potential impacts of the barge berth. The session will provide information about the project and updates on the measures that Metro Vancouver will undertake to mitigate impacts on residents. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. See the “Community Engagement” section below for more information.

We look forward to connecting with you on May 15, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at City Centre Community Centre (5900 Minoru Blvd., Richmond, BC, V6X 0L9).

Community engagement

Metro Vancouver is working closely with key stakeholders, the public, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Indian Band to consider their interests and the project’s fit with the community.

Metro Vancouver will:

  • Provide information in a timely manner
  • Listen to interests and priorities
  • Collaborate on how the plant is integrated with Iona Beach Regional Park and the surrounding environment
  • Collaborate on resource recovery opportunities
  • Take feedback to the project team and report back on how it has been addressed
  • Establish a single point of contact the community can reach to discuss the projects

Ongoing opportunities for engagement will continue to be provided. Please see the Community Engagement section below for previous engagement activities.
